The Original Sin

In the first book of the Bible, we are told how long ago when God created the world, he also created the first parents. They were named Adam and Eve. God made a beautiful garden for them to live in named Eden. However, there was one tree in the garden whose fruit God forbid them to eat. God commanded them to stay away from it because if they ate of it, they would die. The tree contained the knowledge of good and evil. One day, an evil spirit disguised as a snake entered into the garden and tricked Eve into eating from the tree. Adam was also disobedient and ate some of the forbidden fruit. Immediately, they knew they had done wrong and were very ashamed. God cursed the snack and said to him:

“And I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.”
– Genesis 3:15

Because God can’t allow any sin to go uncorrected, he had to tell Adam and Eve to leave Eden. But God had a future plan to correct their wrong. One of Eve’s descendants, Jesus, would someday conquer death and put it firmly under his heel.
